Mission & Vision
Boobs-’n-Burps offers a full range of accurate information, quality products and trustworthy services to support breastfeeding. All mothers-to-be and young moms are welcome, breastfeeding or not. We pay special attention to the busy, working mother for whom the job or social life are an obstacle to begin with or to continue breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding is not simple nor self-evident. It's a struggle and lots of different factors can influence its success. If breastfeeding does not work out, it is certainly not to be considered a personal failure. Bottles are an accepted and tested alternative where needed. A happy and healthy mother is our first concern and essential to a child's well-being.
What we are not
Boobs-‘n-Burps is (together with some crazy believers) my business. Me, Roeline Ham. I have a Masters degree in agricultural engineering and lots of experience in health and food safety, but I am not medically trained. Spread over 3 children, I have 2 years of breastfeeding miles on my frequent feeder card and am merely an expert by experience with a modest evening class “breastfeeding” at the KH Leuven. For assistance, medical issues and support, I will refer to certified midwives, lactation consultants and other specialists.
Boobs-‘n-Burps is an ambitious small business, but not hard commerce. Honest information to our customers will take precedence over commercial interests. It usually doesn't take more than 2 breasts to feed your child. Our products and services only assist in making our customers' life easier and more comfortable.
We have selected only those products that actually support breastfeeding, that are good quality while being affordable, and that fit our philosophy. We do not offer certain products such as “hooter hiders” or “alcohol tests” as a matter of principle.
We are not the breastfeeding maffia. We are convinced believers and passionate about the breastfeeding cause, but not confrontational. We respect every mom's freedom of choice. We promote breastfeeding but do not lay judgement on any other choice. A happy and healthy mother is the first and foremost pre-requisite for a child's well-being.
And last but not least, I can laugh with what I'm doing!! Yes, I run a breastfeeding boutique!!
Social mission
Not all mothers will find the way to our store. Not everyone has a budget to spend on our products and services. And yet it these moms that could take real advantage from the benefits of breastfeeding. Very unfair.
With the help of our suppliers and customers, we want to collaborate with social non-profit groups (vzw's / asbl's) that aim at helping the less privileged mothers and help them to provide information, products and support on breastfeeding. Just like we do for our customers. As soon as our concept is steaming ahead and we have created the required financial independence, we will turn this idea into reality. Promised.
